Michael Moynihan Minister of State at the Department of Education and Youth Fianna Fáil

The School Transport Scheme is a significant operation managed by Bus Éireann on behalf of the Department of Education.

Bus Eireann has advised that the family referred to by the Deputy are not eligible for school transport as they are attending their 4th nearest post primary centre.

The family applied and paid on time and were successful in obtaining tickets for the 2026/27 school year.

Bus Éireann further advise that the family do not have an Eircode registered on their account, but that tickets have issued for the same service as previous years. The Service Supervisor will determine over the coming days if a closer pick-up point is available and will liaise directly with the family.
