The Department of Education and Youth does not currently provide funding to the organisation referred to by the Deputy under its main youth funding programmes, namely the UBU Your Place Your Space scheme or the Youth Services Grant Scheme (YSGS).
While the organisation received a grant under the Local Youth Club Grant Scheme in 2025 through the relevant Education and Training Board, it is not funded under the department's core youth funding schemes for which capital funding is available.
Capital funding provided by the department for youth services is subject to specific eligibility criteria. Under the 2026 UBU Capital Funding Scheme, applications are strictly limited to organisations in receipt of funding under the UBU Your Place Your Space scheme. Applications from projects or services not funded under UBU are not accepted.
Similarly, the 2026 Youth Capital Funding Scheme is strictly limited to national youth organisations funded under the Youth Services Grant Scheme (YSGS). Applications from other organisations are not eligible for consideration under this scheme.
As the organisation concerned is not funded under either UBU or YSGS, it is not eligible to apply for capital funding under the department's youth capital programmes.
In addition, the department's Planning and Building Unit provides capital funding for recognised primary and post-primary schools within the school estate. As this facility is not a recognised school, there is no funding stream available through the Planning and Building Unit for this project.
Based on publicly available information, the organisation appears to receive its principal funding from other Government departments, including the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht and the Department of Foreign Affairs.
