Social Welfare Benefits
A Jobseeker’s Pay-Related Benefit application was refused because the applicant was undertaking a full-time Level 9 course, with appeal rights remaining.

The person concerned applied for Jobseekers Pay Related (JPRB) on the 14th of August 2026. On their application for JPRB the person stated that they had left work on 13th August 2026 to transition into a teaching career. Their application was examined by a Deciding Officer and a decision to disallow the application was made on the 17th of August 2026. The application was disallowed as the person concerned is engaged in a Level 9 full time course of study and therefore does not satisfy the qualifying condition of being available for full time work.
The person concerned requested a review of this disallowance on the 28th of August. This review was completed on the 14th of September, the decision was upheld upon review and this was communicated to the person concerned on the 14th of September 2026.
On the 14th of September 2026 the person concerned requested a review of the upheld decision and this was carried out on the 17th of September.
The person concerned does not satisfy the conditions for JPRB, namely being available for full time work, as they are engaged in a full time course of study. This review decision was issued to the person concerned on the 17th of September 2026.
