Deputy Matt Carthy asked the Minister for Health further to Parliamentary Question No. 1661 of 18 March 2026, to confirm that a drug (details supplied) is to be discontinued from January 2027; and the plans that are in place to replace this product which is essential for many people who are undergoing weight loss treatment. Under the Health (Pricing and Supply of Medical Goods) Act 2013, the HSE has statutory responsibility for decisions on the pricing and reimbursement of medicines; therefore, the matter has been referred to the HSE for attention and direct reply to the Deputy.
