In July 2024 the Government decided that the current TV licence system would be retained, underpinned by improvements in collection and compliance to maximise revenue generation. To that end, the Technical Working Group (TWG) on the Reform and Enhancement of the Television Licence was reconvened to examine potential administrative and legislative measures to enhance compliance and maximise revenue generation.

The Report of the TWG was finalised before the Summer Recess and will be brought to Government shortly.
