Hospital Facilities

Summary

The Minister referred concerns about public laboratory access for Gorey patients to the HSE for a direct response.

903. Deputy Fionntán Ó Súilleabháin asked the Minister for Health if she will address the lack of public laboratory access for patients at a GP practice in Gorey; the reason University Hospital Waterford has refused access due to capacity while St Vincent’s Hospital cites catchment boundaries; if her attention has been drawn to families with chronic illnesses that cannot afford private blood monitoring; if she will clarify HSE policy regarding lab access for non-GMS practices; and if the HSE will immediately provide a realistic, alternative public laboratory pathway for these families in north Wexford. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
