Since the establishment of the Department in June 2025, the number of full-time equivalent staff within the Climate Action Unit of this Department for the years 2025 and 2026 to date, is as follows:

In line with the Public Sector Climate Action Strategy, the Department established a Climate Action Unit, which sits within the Strategic Policy Unit, Corporate Division, to provide dedicated resources and focus to the delivery of climate action. It coordinates a Climate Policy Working Group, within which all Department Divisions are represented, facilitating the development or implementation of policies or supports to incorporate climate action into the various sectors under the remit of this Department, and produces quarterly Climate Action Reports for Management Board. Thus, climate action is integrated across the Department.

The nominated Climate and Sustainability Champion for the Department is the Assistant Secretary, Corporate division. The Department’s Climate Action Roadmap was updated in 2025. While Corporate Division drives implementation of the Public Sector Climate Action Mandate, the Green Team, chaired by the Climate and Sustainability Champion, is open to all staff and ensures integration of climate action and sustainability initiatives across the Department’s offices.
