Healthcare Policy

Summary

The Minister referred questions about HSE duties and media responses to Do Not Consume Notices to the HSE as a service matter.

1025. Deputy Michael Murphy asked the Minister for Health to clarify the statutory responsibilities of the HSE in assessing and communicating public health risks arising from Do Not Consume Notices; whether it is HSE policy to refer media enquiries concerning potential health risks exclusively to Uisce Éireann and the Environmental Protection Agency; and why requests from Tipperary Mid West Radio between 10 and 13 October 2026 for information and a public health spokesperson concerning a matter (details supplied) were referred to those bodies without a substantive HSE response on the health risks. As this is a service matter, I have asked the Health Service Executive to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
