Hildegarde Naughton Minister for Education and Youth Fine Gael

I can confirm that the department has received an application for capital funding under the Additional School Accommodation (ASA) scheme from the school referred to in September 2026. The application relates to a request for accommodation for a special education classroom and is currently under assessment.

My department is prioritising applications which relate to essential mainstream and special education accommodation. In assessing ASA applications, my department consider whether some or all of the requirements presented can be met within the school’s existing accommodation or accommodation available at other schools in the area.  The team also review demographic and enrolment projections to consider the impact on accommodation requirements – for example, accommodation becoming available in the medium term due to decreasing enrolments.

I can confirm that an official acknowledged receipt of the school's application in September and a decision will issue to the school directly upon completion of the assessment process.
