Schools Building Projects
Clare has received €173 million in school capital funding since 2020, with five projects under construction, 19 in design, and further modular, summer works and special-class provision underway.

In recent years the department has delivered significant expanded school capacity in County Clare and continues to progress further important projects through the pipeline.
Since 2020, the Department of Education has provided in the region of €173 million in capital funding for County Clare schools. Over this period, a total of 39 schools in County Clare have been upgraded through provision of either a new school building, extension, modular accommodation or climate pathfinder projects.
There are currently 5 projects on site across County Clare including a large-scale extension and refurbishment project for Scoil Naomh Cnoc An Ein. Table 1 provides details of all projects currently in construction.
In addition, 19 large-scale and additional accommodation projects are progressing through the design pipeline: 5 at Preliminary Design (Stage 1), 5 at Developed Design (Stage 2a), 8 at Detailed Design (Stage 2b) including a new school building for Mol an Óige CNS and 1 at tender (Stage 3).
Table 2 provides details of all projects included on the prioritised projects list that are proposed to proceed to tender or construction in 2026/2027.
There are also a further 11 projects underway through the Modular Programme and the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.
In addition, 50 special classes have been sanctioned in County Clare for September 2026.
The current status of all projects is set out under item number ten at the following link (www.gov.ie). This is updated on a regular basis to reflect project progress through the various stages of capital
appraisal, site acquisition, design, tender and construction.
