The schools referred to by the Deputy form part of a major campus project involving the phased construction of two 16-classroom primary schools, together with a PE hall for the existing post-primary school, on a shared campus.

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that this project commenced on site in August 2024, and while initially some delays occurred, it is currently at an advanced stage of construction, Stage 4, with expected completion in late Q4 2026/early Q1 2027.

The completed campus will significantly enhance educational provision in the area, including the delivery of four classrooms for children with special educational needs across the two primary schools.  It also represents a significant investment in Irish medium education.

This project is one of many ongoing school building projects in the Dublin area. Since 2020, the Department of Education has provided over €2.1 billion in capital funding for Dublin schools.

Over this period, a total of 316 schools were upgraded through provision of either a new school building, extension, modular accommodation or climate pathfinder project.

Under the sectoral NDP implementation plan, a first tranche of projects to go to tender and/or construction in 2026 and 2027 includes 20 projects in Dublin. There are currently 46 large-scale, extension, modular or climate pathfinder projects in Dublin under construction.

There are also 53 projects underway in Dublin through the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.

Additionally, since 2020, a total of 541 special classes have been sanctioned in Dublin, of which 140 were sanctioned for September 2026.
