In recent years the department has delivered significant expanded school capacity in Dublin Mid-West and continues to progress further important projects through the pipeline.

Since 2020, the Department of Education has provided over €410 million in capital funding for Dublin Mid-West schools. Over this period, a total of 41 schools in Dublin Mid-West have been upgraded through provision of either a new school building, extension, modular accommodation or climate pathfinder projects.

There are currently 6 projects on site across Dublin Mid-West, including new school buildings for Coláiste Pobail Fola, Gaelscoil na Camóige, Gaelscoil Chluain Dolcáin and Holy Family Community School. Table 1 provides details of all projects currently in construction.

A further 5 projects are at tender stage, including a new school building for Scoil Chronáin, an extension for Esker ETNS, and deep energy retrofit works at Coláiste Bríde, Deansrath Community College and Collinstown Park Community College.

In addition, 19 large-scale and additional accommodation projects are progressing through the design pipeline: 9 at Preliminary Design (Stage 1), 2 at Developed Design (Stage 2a), and 8 at Detailed Design (Stage 2b).

One of these Stage 2b projects, the new school building for Adamstown Castle ETNS, has been included in a priority tranche of projects due to move to tender or construction during 2026 and 2027 under the Department's National Development Plan implementation programme. Table 2 provides details of all projects included on the prioritised projects list that are proposed to proceed to tender or construction in 2026/2027.

There are also a further 12 projects underway through the Modular Programme and the Climate Action Summer Works Scheme.

In addition, 22 special classes have been sanctioned in Dublin Mid-West for September 2026.

The current status of all projects is set out under item number ten at the following link (www.gov.ie).  This is updated on a regular basis to reflect project progress through the various stages of capital appraisal, site acquisition, design, tender and construction.
