Departmental Records

Summary

The Minister said individuals may request records concerning their own dealings with the Department, but access to third-party records requires a valid legal basis.

377. Deputy Paul Murphy asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine whether his Department holds historical or current records identifying Achill Mission Estate Commonage, Plot No. 96V2, at Keel, Mayo, including historical maps, predecessor plot references, Land Parcel Identification System records, grazing assessments, management plans and agri-environmental scheme records; whether changes in the mapped extent, agricultural classification or grazing use of the commonage have been recorded; and whether records identify any loss or conversion of commonage land associated with the development of park (details supplied) or other infrastructure. Martin Heydon Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Fine Gael

Individuals who have previously engaged with my Department are entitled to seek copies of any records relating to their own interactions with my Department, including through a subject access request or a request under the Freedom of Information Act. However, my Department does not release records relating to third parties or grant access to their personal data without a valid legal basis. If the persons in question write directly to my Department specifying in detail the information sought and how it relates to their own interactions with the Department the query can then be directed to the appropriate officials who can examine what records or information can be provided.
