The International AI Summit, held in Dublin on 14 October 2026, was a significant success, bringing together leaders from Government, industry and our European partners and Global colleagues to explore how artificial intelligence can drive innovation, competitiveness and economic growth across Ireland and Europe.
The AI Summit under the theme, Harnessing AI to Revolutionise Europe’s Competitiveness, demonstrated the importance of close collaboration between Government and industry in realising the opportunities presented by AI. Working alongside our European partners, including the European Commission, as well as Enterprise Ireland, IDA Ireland and leading international technology companies, the event provided an important platform for meaningful engagement on Europe's digital future.
The Summit also marked the official launch of European AI Innovation Month, further reinforcing Ireland's role in shaping the European AI agenda and strengthening our position as a hub for AI innovation and investment.
Consideration will be given to how best to build on the success of the Summit, including opportunities for future engagement and collaboration with industry and European partners, with the format and frequency of any future events to be explored. This would provide an opportunity to build on the momentum generated, deepen engagement with our European partners and strengthen collaboration between Government, enterprise and the wider AI ecosystem.
The Department will engage with its industry and European partners to consider the most appropriate format and frequency for future Summits, with a view to building on the success of the inaugural event and establishing Ireland as a leading voice in Europe's AI future.
