Summary

The Minister said Garda figures on withdrawn and replacement firearm holsters, issue dates, standards and costs were unavailable and would be provided later.

366. Deputy Ken O'Flynn asked the Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration if he will ascertain from An Garda Síochána the number of leather holsters withdrawn from use since June 2020; the date by which every member authorised to carry a firearm was issued with a replacement holster; the type and retention standard of the holster now in use; and the total cost of the replacement programme; and if he will make a statement on the matter. I have requested the information sought by the Deputy. Regrettably, this was not available in time and I will write to the Deputy once the information is to hand.
