I propose to take Questions Nos. 358, 361 and 363 together.

The family of Detective Garda Colm Horkan suffered a devastating loss when he was murdered while on duty in Castlerea in 2020. I have met with the Horkan family and I am aware of their call for a public inquiry into Detective Garda Horkan’s death.

The individual responsible for the murder of Detective Garda Horkan has been tried and convicted.

At present, a reserved judgement is awaited from the Court of Appeal in respect of that conviction. It is important to allow for the conclusion of criminal proceedings and the outcome of the Coroner’s Inquest which will be held in public, before considering the need for any further inquiry into the tragic murder of Detective Garda Horkan.
