Before entering on the Orders of the Day, I have to make announcements as follows:—

I have received letters dated 14th June and 19th June, respectively, from the Secretary to the Government informing me of the nomination and appointment of the Taoiseach and Members of the Government and of the appointment of Parliamentary Secretaries.

I have given directions to have copies of the letters referred to set out in extenso in the usual manner in the Journal of the House. Consequent on this announcement, they will also be printed in the Official Report of the Debates.

I have to acquaint the House that I have received a letter from Deputy J. Finan informing me that he has been elected a member of Dáil Éireann.

I have also received a letter from the Department of External Affairs expressing the gratitude of the Portuguese Chargé d'Affaires to Seanad Éireann for their resolution of sympathy on the occasion of the death of President Carmona.
