Mobility allowance review

Summary

Government Senators maintain that the mobility allowance funding remains ring-fenced during a four-month review, while Opposition Senators dispute whether disabled people can still apply and demand ministerial accountability.

I remind Senators opposite that the mobility allowance to which they refer is not being scrapped and the €10.6 million is ring-fenced. It will remain in place for the next four months while the Minister for Health, Deputy Reilly, and Minister of State, Deputy Kathleen Lynch, engage with representative groups.
