Pfizer investment and job creation

Summary

Senator Burke cites Pfizer’s €100 million investment and resulting jobs as evidence of economic progress, while Senator Ó Domhnaill disputes the Government’s employment claims.

Senator Ó Domhnaill obviously does not read the newspapers because yesterday Pfizer announced a €100 million investment in this country - €23 million in Cork and €78 million in Clondalkin. That will create jobs.

That has nothing to do with waiting times.

Comment on this

The Senator alleged that we are not creating jobs.

Has the Senator a question for the Leader?

Comment on this

I have a question relating to the health service but I just want to congratulate Pfizer, the IDA and the Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation on all the work they are doing in job creation and getting money invested in this country. We are creating 2,000 jobs per month while the previous Government was losing 1,250-----

There are more jobs being lost than are being created. For God's sake, wake up and smell the coffee.

I spent two days in Cork and saw 30 businesses in a constituency in west Cork that had closed in the past year.

Senator Burke is in danger of going over time. Has he a question for the Leader?

Comment on this

I know the heat is getting to everyone.
