Presidential state visit
Senator Moran praises President Higgins and Sabina Higgins for representing Ireland during the state visit to Britain; brief exchanges and the Chair’s procedural correction follow.
I join the commendations for and congratulations to the President, Michael D. Higgins and his wife Sabina, on the excellent job they did in representing the country last week during the first official state visit to Britain. It made me very proud to be an Irish person. I am particularly proud that I campaigned and canvassed for and supported Michael D. in his bid for the presidency. I felt both he and his wife were outstanding in their role. Sabina Higgins was excellent in demonstrating Irish style and culture and putting it to the fore.
