Objection to undebated motions

Summary

Senator Mooney again condemns placing committee reports before the House without debate, and the Chair moves on after the Deputy Leader seeks to respond.

On a point of order, while I empathise with the Deputy Leader in her dilemma in dealing with the motions, it was unacceptable to put them before the House to be taken without debate as that was to treat it with a certain contempt. If one cannot find a Minister of State to supervise a motion on a report from a House committee, something is seriously wrong at the heart of government.
