Garda Inspectorate report debate

Summary

Senator O’Keeffe asks the Leader to arrange a debate with the Justice Minister on the Garda Inspectorate report and its implications for policing reform.

I call on the Leader to arrange for a debate on the serious findings of the Garda Inspectorate's report. I thank the inspectorate for the work done and believe a debate with the Minister for Justice and Equality, Deputy Frances Fitzgerald, on the findings of the report would be timely. It is timely because, as we look for a new Garda Commissioner and independent commission, if we are to make progress and build a good strong Garda force, this is the basis on which it should be done.
