Healthy eating education

Summary

Senator O’Brien supports obesity measures, calling for schools to teach children how to prepare healthy, inexpensive food and warning of serious health and State-cost consequences.

The curriculum should include lessons on how to cook, not out of boxes and packets, but healthy inexpensive food that will keep people healthy and well. The Department should convey that obesity affects one's mental health.

It will affect physical health, self-esteem and ruin the coffers of the State in years to come. We must do something about this. I wholeheartedly support Senator Coghlan's statement in that regard.
