Public transport fare differences

Summary

Senator John Gilroy seeks a debate with the Transport Minister on anomalies in public-transport pricing, particularly the difference between comparable Cork and Dublin bus fares.

I have several. I could not allow the bandwagon effect to pass without comment. On an unrelated matter, there are some anomalies in the price structuring fare of public transport in Ireland. A comparison of bus fares in Cork and similar bus fares in Dublin shows a price differential. I ask the Deputy Leader to facilitate a debate with the Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport on public transport pricing policy.
