Women and the eighth amendment

Summary

Senator Devine thanks Senator O'Sullivan and says his contribution will help the country decide on the eighth amendment. She then returns to International Women’s Day and the importance of women’s place in society.

Paul Coghlan An Leas-Chathaoirleach Fine Gael

Mar fhocal scoir, before I call the Deputy Leader, I want to say that International Women's Day is of particular significance this year as we commemorate the centenary of women's suffrage in Ireland. It is most welcomed in this House through the leadership of Senator Bacik on the Vótáil 100 working group, which is playing a central role in ensuring the importance of this historic event is highlighted. Perhaps I should have said that at the beginning, but I did not want to speak for too long. I call the Deputy Leader to respond.
