Summary
Senator Gavan raised home care packages and home help hours, criticising low pay and union recognition issues. The Leader said the Government had increased provision and offered to discuss the matter further.
In terms of home care packages, I have not got the figures to which Senator Gavan referred but it is a bit unfair to come in when Senator Colm Burke is not here to defend himself and raise the matter.

If the Senator wants to take it up again, I would be happy to have him debate it but to be fair, the Government has increased the number of home care packages and home help hours that are available.

But they are based on poverty pay. Those employers will not recognise their unions.
