Presidential election and reform
The Leader then turned to the presidential contest, wishing candidates success and joking about deposits and victory. This led into a short exchange on reform of the presidential nomination and election process, with Senator Norris arguing ordinary people need a better chance and the Government has not acted on the Constitutional Convention’s recommendation.
When I say "success", I mean they might get their deposits back. There can only be one victor and to the victor go the spoils. Perhaps I should not say "the spoils", but to be elected Uachtarán, Head of State, is a huge honour and privilege. I wish whoever that person may be next Friday every success and blessing in the job.
I am smiling at Senator Norris who was a candidate in the previous election. The work he did then and beforehand should be recognised.

I thank the Leader, but the whole process needs to be reformed to give the ordinary people a chance.

The ordinary person has a chance to run, but in the light of the carry-on of some candidates during the nominating process, they should receive tuition on the Constitution before any election-----
