Computer science in schools
The chair pressed Senator Murnane O’Connor to turn her statement into a question or debate request. She said she was highlighting the lack of computer skills in second level education and, after repeated exchanges, confirmed she was calling for a debate.

It is not appropriate to come in and read a long statement. On the Order of Business, Senators raise a question. If the Senator wants to frame this issue into a question, I will allow her to do so.

On the Order of Business, most Senators ask the Leader for a debate or ask a question. It is not appropriate for the Senator to come in and read out a statement and I have been in this House in various capacities for much longer than the Senator has.
