Greyhound exports clarification

Summary

Senator Daly clarified that his criticism was of illegal, unlicensed greyhound exports, not genuine licensed trade. The Chair confirmed the clarification was on the record and concluded contributions.

On a point of order, as the spokesperson for my party, I was accused in the House this morning of being hypocritical with regard to the Greyhound Racing Act 2019. Fianna Fáil opposed an amendment that would have placed a blanket ban on licensed exports of greyhounds to white-listed countries. What I said this morning was that the greyhounds that were featured in last night's "Prime Time" programme were exported illegally. No licence was applied for. There are genuine exporters and importers. This morning I asked for the illegal exportation of non-licensed animals to stop.

It will be on the record. That concludes all of the contributions. I now have the pleasure of calling on the Leader to respond.
