Dublin and rural Ireland dispute

Summary

A lively exchange followed over Dublin's finances, Irish Water, Garda numbers and whether the Government favoured the capital over rural Ireland. The Chair repeatedly cut off the broader political argument.

I thank the Leader for that.

Comment on this

I do not know what Senator Humphreys has against the rest of Ireland. He seems to think that Dublin is the be all and end all. There is life beyond the M50.

Comment on this

He would have to get off the M50 first.

Comment on this

It is a long way from the centre of Dublin.

Comment on this

He could be there for a week.

Comment on this

The Senator should talk to people around the country about how they see Dublin.

Comment on this

We are paying for it all. We are paying for everyone. Go on the taxpayers.

Comment on this

I do not know what the Labour Party has against rural Ireland or areas outside Dublin.

Comment on this

We are paying too.
