The Chair selected matters on breast density reporting, childcare eligibility, solar planning and Portumna Forest Park; other requests were deferred.
I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:
Senator Nessa Cosgrove - the need for the Minister of Health to make a statement on the introduction of a mandatory, nationwide and standardised breast density reporting to all women with mammogram results until the HIQA health technology assessment process has concluded.
Senator Eileen Lynch - the need for the Minister for Children, Disability and Equality to make a statement on amending the early childhood care and education scheme eligibility requirements so that children can commence once eligible at age two years and eight months.
Senator Mike Kennelly - the need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to provide a national planning statement on solar energy development.
Senator Anne Rabbitte - the need for the Minister of State with special responsibility for forestry, farm safety and horticulture to make a statement on the future plans for Portumna Forest Park, County Galway.
Senator Teresa Costello - the need for the Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment to make a statement on the systems in place for the disposal of nitrous oxide canisters and the supports available to local authorities to deal with this issue.
Senator Pauline Tully - the need for the Minister for Social Protection to make a statement on introducing a system where people in receipt of a jobseeker's allowance who become ill are automatically transferred to the supplementary welfare allowance.
Senator Patricia Stephenson - the need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on the provision of sexual assault treatment units in different regions in the country.
The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion and I have selected Senators Cosgrove, Lynch, Kennelly and Rabbitte and they will be taken now. The other Senators may give notice on another day of the matters that they wish to raise.
