Six requests on carbon tax, housing, Gaza evacuees, emergency care and rail services were selected; the forestry appeals fee issue may be raised another day.
I have received notice from the following Senators that they propose to raise the following matters:
Senator Robbie Gallagher - the need for the Minister for Finance to make a statement on the reduced carbon tax rate for rural gas users.
Senator Gareth Scahill - the need for the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage to make a statement on social housing eligibility for people experiencing marriage or relationship breakdown.
Senator Patricia Stephenson - the need for the Minister for Health to provide an update on supports for families evacuated under the Irish Gaza medevac initiative.
Senator Victor Boyhan - the need for the Minister for Health to make a statement on the number of people who left accident and emergency departments without being seen in the first seven months of 2026.
Senator Sharon Keogan - the need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on funding for a feasibility study to assess the potential of reopening the existing Navan to Drogheda railway to commercial passenger services.
Senator Fiona O'Loughlin - the need for the Minister for Transport to make a statement on the provision of infrastructure funding to alleviate the severe overcrowding on peak-time commuter train services from Newbridge and Kildare town.
Senator Nessa Cosgrove - the need for the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine to make a statement on the introduction of a €200 submission fee for appeals relating to forestry appeals.
The matters raised by the Senators are suitable for discussion. I have selected Senators Gallagher, Scahill, Stephenson, Boyhan, Keogan and O'Loughlin and they will be taken now. Senator Cosgrove may give notice on another day on the matter that she has raised.
