April figures showed 24,907 people registered in building and construction in 1976, up 5,050 (25.4%) from 19,857 in 1975; May data were unavailable.

The number of persons in the building, contracting and works of construction industry who were on the live register on 18th April, 1975, and on 15th April, 1976, were 19,857 and 24,907 respectively. This represents an actual increase of 5,050 or 25.4 per cent.
