Irish nationals and emigration to South Africa

Summary

Mitchell asks for the number of Irish nationals in South Africa and whether emigration there will be discouraged. Lenihan does not know the number and reiterates the Government’s abhorrence of apartheid.

Jim Mitchell Mr. Mitchell Fine Gael

Does the Minister know how many Irish nationals are in South Africa, and does he propose to take any steps to discourage emigration to South Africa?

Comment on this

I do not know how many we have in South Africa at the moment. All I can do is reiterate our abhorrence of the whole apartheid system.
