The requested mid-January figures were unavailable; the Minister provided available average house and local-authority land prices, noting that 1978 data was not yet available.
asked the Minister for the Environment the cost of a new dwelling in Dublin City and County and the cost of an acre of building land in the same area in mid-January 1976, 1977 and 1978.

Information in the form requested by the Deputy is not available in my Department. Information is, however, available on a quarterly basis on the average gross price of new houses in the Dublin area for which loans were approved by the main leading agencies and on a yearly basis on the average price per acre of land acquired by agreement by Dublin local authorities. The available data shows average prices, as follows:
