Adult education statistics and administration

Summary

Collins asked why the Department lacks adequate statistics on adult education participation and course demand, and whether it would establish a dedicated section. Wilson said existing statistics and administrative arrangements were adequate.

Edward Collins Mr. E. Collins Fine Gael

asked the Minister for Education why adequate statistics are not maintained by his Department in respect of participation in adult education courses and the demand for such courses; if it is intended to establish a special adult education section in his Department; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Comment on this

I am satisfied that the statistics available in relation to participation in adult education and the administration arrangements at present operative are both adequate.
