Walsh asked whether dental care would be included in the hospital services scheme; Haughey said dental care rarely requires inpatient treatment, but those who need it are covered on the same basis as other patients.

Dental care does not normally require in-patient hospital treatment. Where it does the small number of persons concerned are eligible for hospital services on the same basis as persons requiring other hospital treatment.
