Dental care under hospital services

Summary

Walsh asked whether dental care would be included in the hospital services scheme; Haughey said dental care rarely requires inpatient treatment, but those who need it are covered on the same basis as other patients.

Joe Walsh Mr. J. Walsh Fianna Fáil

asked the Minister for Health if he would consider including dental care in the scheme for hospital services, recently announced by his Department.

Comment on this

Dental care does not normally require in-patient hospital treatment. Where it does the small number of persons concerned are eligible for hospital services on the same basis as persons requiring other hospital treatment.
