asked the Minister for Labour if he will amend legislation prohibiting women from working at night in industry, if not, the reasons why, and if he will make a statement on the matter.

At my request the Employment Equality Agency has reviewed the legislation and the international commitment which prohibit women from working at night in industry.

My Department is at present engaged in consultations with the many interests involved preparatory to the submission of a recommendation to me as to action to be taken.
