The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) administered the 2026 ICE2EV Pilot Scheme on behalf of the Department of Transport. A total of 2,060 applications were received, comprising of 720 urban city applications and 1,340 rural applications. Four city applications were later cancelled due to the incorrect information supplied at time of application.
My Department does not currently hold a breakdown of applications received under the scheme by dealership and county, nor a breakdown of successful applications approved for each dealership. Operational data relating to applications and approvals under the scheme are being gathered by SEAI, in advance of an evaluation to be conducted by the Department and SEAI. This evaluation will review the operation and outcomes of the pilot scheme, including application demand and delivery arrangements, to inform future policy considerations regarding EV supports.
