The General Scheme of the Children’s Health Ireland Bill 2026 received approval from Government on 14 July 2026. Provisions within the Bill will repeal sections of the Children’s Health Act 2018, dissolving Children’s Health Ireland as a legal body, and transferring its employees, assets, functions and liabilities to the Health Service Executive. Children’s Health Foundation (CHF) is an independent company limited by guarantee which raises vital funds to support sick children and their families. The Children’s Health Ireland Bill 2026 does not seek to alter CHF’s status or the important fundraising work it carries out. As the drafting process progresses, my Department will continue to engage with CHI, the HSE, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure that necessary provisions, including those relating to fundraising, are contained within the Bill to ensure a comprehensive and successful integration.
