Patrick O'Donovan Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport Fine Gael

In 2019, an economic impact assessment of the hosting of the Ryder Cup was prepared by Fáilte Ireland at the request of my Department. In 2024, due to inflation and the passage of times, the Department requested that Fáilte Ireland review and update the findings of the 2019 report.

Fáilte Ireland retained the same contractor for this updated report. The costs of reviewing and producing this report were borne by Fáilte Ireland and, therefore, this Department has no record of those costs.

While this Department has lodged an appeal to a decision by the Office of the Information Commissioner regarding this report, the associated legal costs arising will only be known when such proceedings are concluded. To date, some costs have been incurred in the context of legal advice commissioned by the Office of the Chief State Solicitor and in making the legal challenge. The Department has not yet been invoiced for these costs.
