Public Transport
578. Deputy Gary Gannon asked the Minister for Transport which body holds overall responsibility for coordinating and justifying the combined impact of overlapping BusConnects and MetroLink works in the same location; whether the National Transport Authority accepts responsibility for the modelled traffic consequences of its own BusConnects design decisions where those consequences are published in a Transport Infrastructure Ireland document; and if he will make a statement on the matter. As Minister for Transport, I have responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport. Under the Dublin Transport Authority Act 2008, the National Transport Authority (NTA) has statutory responsibility for the strategic planning and provision of public transport infrastructure and services within the Greater Dublin Area.
Noting the NTA's responsibility in the matter, I have referred the Deputy’s question to the NTA for a direct reply. Please contact my private office if you do not receive a reply within 10 working days.
