Health Services Staff

Summary

The HSE will respond directly on whether therapy graduate numbers meet replacement and expansion needs through 2030, including reliance on overseas-qualified staff.

1451. Deputy Liam Quaide asked the Minister for Health whether the HSE has assessed whether the annual number of graduates from Irish physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy and dietetics programmes is sufficient to replace staff leaving the HSE and also meet planned service expansion; the projected additional workforce requirement in each discipline to 2030; and the proportion of that requirement the HSE expects will need to be met through recruitment of overseas-qualified professionals.
