Martin Heydon Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Fine Gael

I propose to take Questions Nos. 1001 and 1002 together.

I propose to take Questions 36 and 37 together.

I am aware of the case the Deputy has referenced. I cannot comment further on an ongoing criminal investigation by An Garda Síochána with support from my Department.

My Department takes all reports of animal welfare concerns extremely seriously and investigates all reports received. Under the Animal Health and Welfare Act 2013, the primary responsibility for ensuring the health, welfare and correct management of farm animals rests with the owner or person-in-charge of the animals.
