Ireland looks forward to playing its part to continue the work that was begun by Colombia and the Netherlands, by partnering with Tuvalu to co-host the Second Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels. The Second Conference will be held in Tuvalu in 2027, with a pre-meeting to be held shortly before that in Dublin.
Discussions are ongoing with Tuvalu, as well as Colombia and the Netherlands, including on arrangements for the transition from the First Conference to the Second Conference. This includes through participation in the coordination group established by the hosts of the First Conference.
Work is currently underway in my Department to put in place the appropriate resources necessary to deliver on the Second Conference, which is a priority for my Department for 2027. The level of resourcing needed will be contingent on the outcome of discussions between my officials and Tuvalu, as the other co-hosts, on our shared aims for and the scale of the Second Conference, including the details of the Dublin pre-meeting.
