Ambulance Service

Summary

The Minister referred questions on the National Ambulance Service’s helicopter night capability and the Sligo service’s expansion plans to the HSE.

1339. Deputy Pádraig Rice asked the Minister for Health if any helicopter emergency medical service operated by or on behalf of the National Ambulance Service is currently capable of operating at night; if the north-west service commenced at Sligo Airport in July 2026 is intended to acquire a night capability; and if so, the timeline and estimated cost. As this is a service matter I have asked the Health Service Executive (HSE) to respond to the Deputy directly, as soon as possible.
